Tired, But Plugging Along

Saturday and another day watching the US Open. Currently my most recent round of antibiotics (every six hours like clock work) is pumping into my vein. I’m blogging one handed on my iPhone with the WordPress App. Mom is down getting some lunch for herself. I just ordered mine…. Chicken noodle soup, crackers, and someContinue reading “Tired, But Plugging Along”

Well folks…. I’m back in. Spiked a fever and had to come in for antibiotics. My counts are very low… So the plan… I have to be here until my counts reach a certain level. Until then I’m here, on antibiotics every six hours…. And constant saline. We are hoping not too long, but it’sContinue reading “Back In”

Chef Salad

Had a lovely chef salad today for lunch accompanied by a wheat roll and a small tidbit of a brownie. It was so nice to be able to eat a salad with veggies on it. Really…. You don’t realize how much you miss them until you can’t have them. Had my second round of theContinue reading “Chef Salad”

First Day of Round Three

Here we are, Sunnyside Hospital. First round of chemo, slight reaction about two hours later, a little intravenous hydrocortisone, and now a possibly blown IV. Hopefully not. Vein got sore from the hydrocortisone being pushed in with the saline. I don’t have any more IV stuff until tomorrow again so hopefully the iV holds andContinue reading “First Day of Round Three”

Doctor’s Appointment… Check

Met with Dr. Bigler today. All went well and we are a go for the next round. We go into the hospital tomorrow at 8:00 and start the first of five rounds of the next chemo med. The doc said it’s simmer to idarubicin with the only exceptions being that it’s blue and it couldContinue reading “Doctor’s Appointment… Check”

The Return of Ida

Ida is back. She was a caustic visitor last we saw her, though she promises to be gentler this time around. We shall see if she keeps her promise. We are back in the hospital for consolidation round one. Karen’s air mattress is blown up, we walked what we think might be a mile aroundContinue reading “The Return of Ida”

Consolidation… Round 1

We went in and met with my oncologist today.  It went really well.  We aren’t messing around starting the consolidation round, I go into the hospital tomorrow, a day we chose.  I have to be there at 8:00 a.m. at admitting and then I’m back on the oncology floor for 4 days, if everything goesContinue reading “Consolidation… Round 1”

Bone Marrow… Check

Well today was THE day folks.  The biopsy is done.  I’ve had, over the last few days, increasing levels of anxiety waiting waiting waiting for this day.  Building up, making me so tense I can’t even tell you.  This morning I was doing deep breathing exercises almost constantly. We went into Sunnyside Hospital at one,Continue reading “Bone Marrow… Check”

Wow…. Green Around the Gills

I haven’t posted in a few days. Couldn’t muster up the strength to even hold the laptop let alone blog anything of significance.. Now though, well now I am having a moment. Not to say this day is going to be awesome. But… this moment is a better moment than it was even this morning.Continue reading “Wow…. Green Around the Gills”

Nurse Ratchet is Gone

This place is really quite amazing. The staff… Stellar. My cast of characters has been varied and impressive. Here are a few of them… Water fighting bow tie wearing nerdy Doctor Bigler. Relaxed and calm Dr. Trubowitz. Colleen (the first person who really started to explain everything), Brenda, Meg (the fiesty short one who’s beenContinue reading “Nurse Ratchet is Gone”

I’m a Picc’n and Still a Grin’n

I have leukemia. Damn. Shocked I am, still. Just found out two days ago. It was like slow motion. I’m in the hospital bed sore as hell after having the bone marrow biopsy (which hurt like a son of a bitch by the way) and in comes who is now my very own nice oncologistContinue reading “I’m a Picc’n and Still a Grin’n”
