So a couple of weeks ago we had the enormous pleasure of hanging out with and then having dinner with Grandpa, my Aunt Syd, Mom, Don, and Kev. It was a really nice evening. A very nice time. I love my family. Seriously, are there any better people out there? I know some of you might be saying yes, there are… as in your families, friends, or whatever, but still… I love these people. They are awesome. I always have a good time, without exception, when I’m with them, which I’m not often enough. And again I will say lucky. I am so lucky to be a part of this brood. Lucky.

Driving home the other day… gorgeous clouds.
Huh?, originally uploaded by Tokenhippygirl.
As we rode down and off the Freemont, going a pretty good speed, I held out my camera and took random photos without looking at what I was shooting. Here’s one of those.

We get no rain for 28 days or something and now, suddenly, yesterday and today… we get monsoon. Don’t get me wrong though… I like it. I’m an Oregon girl.
Havin’ a Heat Wave, originally uploaded by Tokenhippygirl.
As many of you might be aware… we’re having ourselves a bit of a heat wave. I took this, with my iphone camera, a couple of days ago at 10 in the morning. Already it was 95 degrees. Yesterday, as I drove home, I looked down to see the temp gauge at 108. Yes folks… 108. Now I know this is not uncommon… in the desert. We aren’t used to it. And besides, we, meaning Karen and I, don’t have AC at our house. We have fans. We have panting dogs and Karen, who works from home all day, melting in the stuffiness of it all. We need a nice Oregon rain about now. Yeah… that would be nice!

February Snow, originally uploaded by Tokenhippygirl.
This looks like several pictures I’ve taken so far this winter. Same snow, different day. When I got home today it was still there. White. Covering everything. I’m whining aren’t I?
Lingering Winter, originally uploaded by Tokenhippygirl.
Anyone tired of all the snow besides me? I’m sick of it. Sick and tired. I can’t take it anymore. I think I’m going to go insane. … not really. I won’t really go insane from looking at snow. Seriously though… we have had snow since December 14. With no break. Granted, at times it’s just been this left over pile that won’t melt, but still. There it’s been… the pile. Taunting us. I want sun and warmth. I want to wear t-shirts and shorts, or at least start wearing flip flops. These are simple things. Simple wants. I’m not asking much…. am I?

This week’s theme for the Photo Hunt is clouds. I’m going to do something I’ve never done… I’m going to post more than one photo. Why you ask? I can’t decide which one to use, so you’re getting to see all the candidates.

Taken in February 2006, in the air over Tampa Bay, Florida. There were tornado warnings going on all day. We had to wait in the airport for seven hours before we were allowed to take off and even then there were black clouds and lightening happening all around. Pretty scary, but beautiful.

Taken in June 2008 at English Bay, Vancouver, Canada. We were in Stanley Park. Gorgeous park and some great photo opportunities.

Taken in January 2008 at Lake Mead, Nevada. The sunsets in Nevada can be breathtaking, especially when air force jets have made trails that catch the light.

Taken in September 2007 at Morecambe Bay, Britain. This bay is famous because at low tide you can walk the 11 miles across, with a guide. There’s quicksand, hence the need for the guide.

Taken in July 2007 at Quabbin Reservoir, Massachusetts. Central Massachusetts is beautiful.

Taken in July 2007 at Davis Lake, Oregon. This was one of the coolest cloud formations I’d ever seen. Hat, stack of pancakes, uh… you name it. Just very cool looking. Karen actually spotted it and then I shot it.
