This is the view facing the other way, west, from the Freemont. The water of the Willamette looked so cool Sunday. Love this one.

The Freemont, originally uploaded by Tokenhippygirl.
Our last bridge in our six bridge Providence Bridge Pedal oddyssey was the Freemont Bridge. Most recognizable and never traveled by bicycle except for this once a year opportunity. We cruised up to the top of this beauty and stood looking at the views for awhile. So cool to be up there and so much fun riding down, fast, on the other side.
Climbing The Marquam, originally uploaded by Tokenhippygirl.
The Marquam, otherwise known as the I5 bridge. This was one of the places we walked a little. Both getting up to it, because we couldn’t keep peddling, and then on the top, because there were so many people. Very cool to be able to cross this thing. Once we made it to the top there was a band playing, free root beer, water re-fills, and some fantastic views.
This particular shot is looking up river. The bridge you can see if the Ross Island, where we’d crossed over before riding down to the Marquam.

The second bridge we crossed during the Bridge Pedal was the Ross Island. Nice view from there toward some of the other bridges we’d be tackling later.
July 18, originally uploaded by Tokenhippygirl.
So much has gone on in the last week my head and my brain are spinning. Wedding, camping, construction at home, too much heat, tubing, a concert, and back to work. My oh my…
This photo was taken on the 18th at my friend Genine and her man Murray’s wedding. My first foray into the world of wedding photography. It was a great day, they are fantastic people, and I think we all were incredibly emotional. Sweet.

Pickets, originally uploaded by Tokenhippygirl.
As we walked back to the truck from the street fair I took a couple of shots. This being one of those.
Take a Seat, originally uploaded by Tokenhippygirl.
I don’t know why, but I like this shot. Simple. Makes a person want to just hang out, relax, and be still for awhile.
Eating Out, originally uploaded by Tokenhippygirl.
Outside that is. The view from our table at McMenamins. It was so nice Friday night. A nice dinner out after we’d worked around the house, in the yard, all morning. We got tons of stuff done this weekend at our place. Very satisfying. Also very satisfying to play after you work. Oh, and the plans on the table… they are the plans for our bathroom addition. We took them along so Sandy and Vicki could check them out.
Powell’s, originally uploaded by Tokenhippygirl.
The one and only, needs no other introduction… Powell’s City of Books.
Alder Street Food Carts, originally uploaded by Tokenhippygirl.
Made famous on a season of the Amazing Race, here are the Alder Street Food Carts. You can get almost any kind of food, good to excellent, and cheap.
The link above actually takes you to the Portland Food Carts blog. Great blog about, well, food carts in Portland. Yeah, I know I’m a dork.
Getting The Shot, originally uploaded by Tokenhippygirl.
After the movie last Thursday, Karen’s birthday night out on the town, we decided to walk back to our car, through the city. It was lovely out, had cooled down a bit, and was perfect weather for walking. We walked, chatted, took photos. Really really nice.
Tram, originally uploaded by Tokenhippygirl.
Down by the South Waterfront, on our way back to the truck at the end of our ride, we happened to catch the OHSU Tram taking off back up the hill.

The light Friday evening was beautiful. All soft and clear. I love this city.
Bible and Barq’s, originally uploaded by Tokenhippygirl.
Mysteriously there was a bible with a partially consumed bottle of Barq’s Root Beer sitting on this bench. No one around. Maybe it was an offering… sit, read the good book, quench your thirst. We did neither. We just stopped and took a photo of it. Keep Portland Weird.

Arthur’s Seat sits in the middle of Edinburgh. Most impressive.
Edinburgh, originally uploaded by Tokenhippygirl.
From Lindisfarne we made it over the border into Scotland and Edinburgh (pronounced Edinbroo). It was evening when we got into the city so we checked into our apartment, grabbed some snacks from a nearby store, and settled in for the evening. The next morning we walked around the city a bit. Martin and Mary had both been there before and were excellent tour guides. This is Edinburgh Castle up on the hill taken from Princes Park.

The classic red phone box.
London Underground, originally uploaded by Tokenhippygirl.
Thus ended our first day of sight seeing in London. We headed into the London Underground, jumped on the tube, and headed to our hotel. Mind the gap.
Ben And The Eye, originally uploaded by Tokenhippygirl.
We walked past Big Ben, heading toward Westminster Abbey.
Grab The Rail, originally uploaded by Tokenhippygirl.
This was taken right before we decided to turn around and head back to our respective vehicles. Just then the rain started to drop down. We didn’t care… after all, we live in Portland.

Cinco de Mayo In Full Swing, originally uploaded by Tokenhippygirl.
The Cinco de Mayo celebration was going full swing on the west side in Waterfront Park, a tad early, but full swing none the less.
