We ventured over to the Glessner House yesterday to meet the staff and check out the wedding location. Lovely place. Add the snow on the ground and it’s really beautiful. Only 5 days to go.
Walking along the Magnificent Mile…. Chicago.
Here’s Irv looking like he’s gesturing toward the Trump Tower. Irv was a famous newspaper man in Chicago. I personally had never heard of him, but he’s famous none the less. Famous enough to get a statue anyway. Way to go Irv.
Skating, originally uploaded by Tokenhippygirl.
I would not be able to skate here. Tried ice skating once, a long time ago, in Montana. Then it was my first time, I was 19, and my little sister was much much younger… like 4. I fell, she skated around like a rock star. I gave up ice skating that day. Now I just like to watch people skate. Much safer.

We saw an amazing sunset and some incredible light on Mt. Adams as we drove home from Centralia. Of course we had only one choice at that point… get off the freeway, hit the road less traveled, and find the shot. We didn’t get the exact angle I was looking for, but I did manage to get a series of shots that weren’t bad. Love the light on the mountain in this one.

I lied… Karen took this photo in San Francisco and I wanted to post it because I really liked it. Nice job with the Canon Powershot.

The F line Street Car. We rode on one or two of these. Packed, yet awesome. The history of them, especially related to the city, is so cool.
This is the last photo from our San Francisco trip. We didn’t have Rice-a-Roni, but we ate ice cream at the original Ghirardelli shop, and we saw the Golden Gate Bridge up close. We didn’t go to Alcatraz, but we did walk and walk and walk, and we had a blast with our friends… thanks Sandy and Vicki for inviting us to join you there and for being great travel companions. We enjoyed some great food, and we also walked and walked and walked. We rode in planes, trains and automobiles, we played some mean retro video games, we had a fantastic time. We loved the city. San Francisco… we will be back.

We continued to walk along the water toward the wharf after leaving the Palace of Fine Arts and passing Fort Mason. We spotted this guy laying around near the old Maritime Museum and Aquatic Park. Sweet spot really… the Maritime Museum is shaped like an old ocean liner. The Aquatic Park still has a bay swimming course. There were people actually swimming it, in wet suits, as we walked past. Hardy souls to be sure. Loved this sculpture. Random.

Walking In The Palace

A little perspective here… That’s Karen, walking around the palace.

The Palace of Fine Arts. Haven’t been there for years. Not since I was in my early 20′s. At least, I think I was in my early 20′s. Maybe I was 19. Yes, THAT long ago. I love this place.

Stack of Rocks… And Earl

Had to include the close up of Earl with the rocks. He’s a good looking guy… that Earl.

Earl had a great view of the strange stacks of rocks in this area as well as the bridge in the distance. He loves to travel.

The City

Looking back toward the city, and where we would eventually walk. The dome in the center is the Palace of Fine Arts. We stopped by there on our way to the wharf.

The Golden Lady

As Vicki and Sandy finished the marathon (Sandy went along with Vicki the last half of her 13 mile walk), Karen and I wandered along the water from the Golden Gate to the wharf. A long walk, but worth it. Lovely day. Beautiful, gorgeous, and we were there.

Sandy’s Sundae

The best hot fudge you could have. Really. I’m not lying. Plus, you can choose milk or dark chocolate. Both, let me tell you, are good.

Ghirardelli Square

We stood in Ghirardelli Square before going in to enjoy a delicious sundae. The sky was spectacular. Love clouds like this. The view ended up being almost as tasty as the Ghirardelli wares. Yes indeed.

Dahlia In Waiting

There was a lovely dahlia garden next to the conservatory. Karen and I took a ton of shots there. Amazing color. Really beautiful.

They used to have Lindy hops here every week. Lessons provided. That was before the refurbishing. There’s a group trying to get them going again. If they do… wanna go?
