Stingray, originally uploaded by Tokenhippygirl.

I’m posting a bit early as it seems that lately if I don’t, I don’t do it until Sunday late in the day or even Monday. I’d rather be early.

Anyhoo… The theme for the week is glass. I found these huge pieces of glass at the Georgia Aquarium in Atlanta to be amazing. There’s a wall of glass at the aquarium that’s larger than any other aquarium viewing area in the world…. or so they claim anyway. It was quite impressive. But for visual coolness, I liked these large insets. Walking under them was like walking under water.

Gangway, originally uploaded by Tokenhippygirl.

Since I was so late in posting last week’s photo, scroll down and you’ll see that it’s there, I wanted to get a jump on it this week.

The theme for the week is Metal. I took this one near the end of the year last year. This gangway is fairly new and goes down to the public docks on the Columbia River. It was sunset and the pink in the sky and reflected in the water was lovely. It made a nice contrast to the metal of the gangway.

Water Colors, originally uploaded by Tokenhippygirl.

I’m a bit late this week posting for the hunt. Ah well, our lives have been a bit crazy and busy, what can I say.

As for the photo I’m posting… I took this one at Lake Mead, Nevada. Look for the dock. This is the closest thing I could find to something I’ve taken that had a hidden element to it.

Casa Batllo, originally uploaded by Tokenhippygirl.

The theme for the photo hunt this week is different. I looked through my recent archives and ran across some pictures I took in Barcelona, Spain of the Gaudi buildings. Nothing says different and unique in architecture like a Gaudi building. Strange, beautiful and amazing stuff. I’d never seen anything like them.

This is Casa Batlló.  You can find out more by clicking on the official site link here and/or by going to the wikipedia link here.  Check out these sites, it’s pretty interesting stuff.

The Napkin, originally uploaded by Tokenhippygirl.

The theme this week’s photo hunt is party. I took this one of my brother in law, who’s a bit camera shy, at a party at my mom’s place at the end of last summer. My brother in law, Tim, showed me his napkin when I went to take a picture of him. It cracked me up, made him smile, and I got what I think is kind of a cool photo.

Newport Bayfront, originally uploaded by Tokenhippygirl.

Today’s theme for the hunt is wooden. I was looking through some of my photos and came across this one taken in October 2007 of the bay front in Newport, Oregon. Great wooden benches, railings, and boardwalk there, not to mention the big wooden boat in the background and the huge mural painted on the side of the wooden fish processing plant (or whatever you call it).

Today’s photo hunt theme is free and what signifies free more than letting freedom ring. Today we hung out in Philadelphia and went to see the Liberty Bell. Pretty fantastic. I always sort of find myself getting emotional about history. Corny… maybe, but I do none the less. It’s amazing to me to be in the presence of such a symbol of the basic principles of freedom and all it represents. We take our freedom for granted I think sometimes and we shouldn’t. It’s nice to be reminded of what we have, and what the cost was to get it.

Passing Through The Canal, originally uploaded by Tokenhippygirl.
I’m posting a bit early this week as tomorrow, when I’m supposed to be posting for the photo hunt, we’ll be flying from Portland to Atlanta. We get in around 2:00, but I wasn’t sure how much time I’d have… hence the early post.

This week’s theme… Heavy. Once again I had to look around through the old photo archives to come up with what I thought was an interesting entry for the week. This picture was taken at the Panama Canal in 2007. Some of the ships that pass through are so big and heavy they have to be guided through using small trains on each side as well as a tug boat behind. It’s a fascinating process. This ship was huge.

Laundry, originally uploaded by Tokenhippygirl.

It took me a little while to come up with a photo for this weeks theme, but I finally narrowed it down, every pun intended, to this one I took in a very narrow street in Barcelona, Spain. Narrow street, narrow place to hang your laundry, and small narrow balconies.

The Stanford, originally uploaded by Tokenhippygirl.

I know, I know, I’m early with this post for Photo Hunt Saturday. But here’s the deal… I’m home today from work, not feeling all that well, and I have nothing better to do. Hence the post today.

About my post for this week’s theme, old fashioned… We went to San Jose last June and while there we ventured out to the Stanford in nearby Palo Alto. This place is fantastic. Admission is cheap, popcorn, snacks and soda are priced from the 50′s or so, and you get a double feature, complete with live organist popping up out of the floor during intermission. It’s old fashioned all the way around, and really incredible. If you want to join the hunt and the fun, check out the specifics at photo hunt.

Life Jackets, originally uploaded by Tokenhippygirl.

I’m posting a tad early for the photo hunt. The theme for the week… important. I looked through the ol’ archives and came up with this one I took February 2007 on a cruise ship. Nothing seems more important when you’re on a big big boat than knowing where the life rafts and the life vests can be found. Luckily we didn’t have to use them, but it was important to me to know where they were!

Under The Arch, originally uploaded by Tokenhippygirl.
The theme for this week… skinny. I couldn’t think of anything, and unlike tnchick I’m not the thinnest of souls so a picture of myself is out. I thought of posting a picture of my dog, since he’s kind of a thin little guy (he comes by it naturally, I feed him lots, he’s just not a huge eater), but decided to go with this… the skinny part of the St. Louis Arch. I dug this one up as it’s a tad older. Happy hunting.

This weeks photo hunt topic: Messy. This candle was making a mess, but you have to have candles when you have Christmas dinner, yes? …hence the bowl.

We’re heading out this afternoon… road trip! If we’re lucky, and the weather holds, we’ll be in Vegas by Sunday. Woo Hoo!

This is my slightly late entry for the photo hunt this week. The light out was beautiful when I took this shot. I love this time of year… the air crisp, the shadows long, and the light soft.

I’m a tad late in posting my photo hunt entry for the week, though I must confess it’s really that I just remembered to do it. What can I say, I’m new to this gig… plus, in my defense, yesterday was my work holiday dinner and there were white elephant gifts to wrap and meatballs to make. Ah, the holidays, a time of sheer and utter madness.

So I ran across this site, while I was clicking around on the net today, called What it’s about is this… there’s a theme every Saturday and if you want to play you post a picture that relates to that theme. There are rules, but not many. If you’re interested, click on the link above and check it, and the rules, out.

This week’s theme (it’s supposed to be tomorrow, but I went ahead and posted today) is long. I went with a long leash on this one.
