Our Japanese garden is just starting to get good. The maple isn’t quite leafed out, but the Buddha is looking fabulous.

The Magnolia is in full bloom right now. Stunning.

Yesterday, when I got home from work, I looked around the yard and thought… wow, it’s beautiful right now. So I did what I do… snapped a few shots.
The Obscure Eagle, originally uploaded by Tokenhippygirl.
I took this photo yesterday. Yes, there is a Bald Eagle in this photograph. Really. Look closely. Sadly, by the time I got in the clear it took off. Seems it was a bit camera shy.
Washed Up, originally uploaded by Tokenhippygirl.
Just a bit of a branch that had washed up at some point. And yes… if you’ve read the previous post and wondered, Weston did leave his mark on this one as well. There should be a sign… Weston was here.

Not sure what the purpose of these sticks was/were. Interesting though. One never knows what one might see when one walks on the beach. (LOL That sentence just cracked me up. When did I get so proper?)

Uh, from the last entry… that would be last Friday afternoon, the 10th. Our anniversary is actually the 9th, but we really couldn’t take it off work as well. Have to save up that time off for trips to England and Chicago and visits with the kids. It’s OK though… we did go out to dinner last Thursday night to celebrate. Had some terrific Vietnamese food at Silk. Nice.

We were lucky enough to have beautiful weather Friday afternoon in Lincoln City. It was lovely. And warm. Great weather for a long stroll along the beach.

I just wanted to blog this since I’m finally feeling like it’s spring, and this is a sure sign of it. Ah… spring, I vaguely remember you from last year. Occasional sun… brilliant flowers… occasional sun. I love this time of year.

This week’s theme for the photo hunt… yellow. I decided not to go for the flower shot, which would’ve been super obvious since I have tons of those, and instead put up a shot I took on a September morning. Sun coming up, nice yellowish glow. I was out on the Columbia River fishing for salmon with a friend who keeps trying to “get me into a fish”. He didn’t. I didn’t catch one. But really, who cares. Man… it can be beautiful out there.
If any of you out there are interested in joining in the hunt, CLICK HERE for more info. tnchick will fill you in on all the ins and outs of getting on board with the hunt.

A photo taken during our road trip to San Jose. Had to throw this and a couple others in. Just now got them uploaded, etc. What can I say… I’m a bit slow.
Sauvie Island, originally uploaded by Tokenhippygirl.
This and the photos that follow were taken yesterday on Sauvie Island. We had a really nice time wandering about out there. I’d recommend it.
Rough Road, originally uploaded by Tokenhippygirl.
It wasn’t actually that rough, but the sign made for a good shot. You can also see the funky valve/spigot thingy. I know… so technical.
Derelict, originally uploaded by Tokenhippygirl.
Not sure what the deal was with this building, it was empty, but had these huge rusty pipes coming up out of it toward and then under the road. Went to a couple of big valve type things on the other side of the road. Also don’t know what’s with what looked like some sort of elaborate fish traps crossing this body of water, but all told it made a cool photo.
Winter Afternoon, originally uploaded by Tokenhippygirl.
Like I said previously, it was lovely out. Who could look at this and not be awed by what’s right there in front of us. We are so lucky to live in such an amazing and magical place.

Winter, originally uploaded by Tokenhippygirl.
I like this one. Simple and pretty plain though it might be, it says it all about a lovely winter day. Crisp blue sky, trees with no leaves, and a bird flying above.
Eagles, originally uploaded by Tokenhippygirl.
Hard to see them really, and man was I wishing for a better telephoto lens, but there’s a bald eagle in this shot, among other birds. One, I think, might be another eagle.
Little McNary Lake, originally uploaded by Tokenhippygirl.
I took this yesterday on Sauvie Island while we were roaming about. I think it’s Little McNary Lake. Not completely sure, but mostly sure.

We’ve had a spectacular President’s Day weekend. It’s the first full weekend where we didn’t have a rental to work on. Woo Hoo! It’s been lovely.
Saturday we stayed home, relaxed, surfed the net, read, watched some Seinfeld, and were pretty mellow.
Yesterday we, including Kev and the pups, went to Sauvie Island to just drive around and explore. Kev drove, we had the ipod plugged in, and we made a few stops to wander, take photographs, and just check out various parts of the island. It was gorgeous out. One of those winter days that teases about the approach of Spring and warmer weather. We saw some cool birds, including a Bald Eagle, and found a few really wonderful places for future hikes (when they open in April after the wildlife birding season is over). We’re excited to go back and explore. We also found a great place to put our kayak in the water. I think loads of good times are to be had this coming summer on Sauvie Island.
Today Karen and I wandered around the city a bit doing some errands, having breakfast out (always a lovely thing to do), visiting family, walking the dogs a little, and shopping for baby gifts. So nice. We just went where we felt like going, did what we felt like doing. Wonderful.
This shot, taken yesterday, is from out sojourn around the island. I’m going to post a few shots from the day yesterday. It was just beautiful out.

Great murals. The plan is to cover the whole building. The murals face the Oaks Bottom Wildlife Refuge along the Springwater Corridor. Pretty cool.

We went for a walk this morning, with the pups, along the Springwater Trail. It was a might chilly, what with the wind and all, but it was beautiful and on the way back to the car it warmed up enough that the little girl wasn’t shivering too bad.
The Springwater Trail is a system of trails, basically connected all together to cover a 40 mile loop, for walking, biking, etc. Click HERE for more info.
After our walk we ventured over to the Bridgeport Brewery in the Pearl to meet friends for some nosh and a beverage. It was a very good time. The pups didn’t mind waiting in the car too badly. After all, they had each other, and a big blanket in the back seat. Following dinner we moseyed over to Maggie’s place to help her hang some art and move some furniture. It was well worth it as her place is really just getting more and more homey all the time. We all, including the pups, feel so comfortable over there.
We ended our day out by driving home. It snowed this morning and as all of you who know where we live know, we’re in the hills. Yes, we still have snow at the house from earlier today. We also slid around on the road a little driving up here as there’s still a bit of snow on parts of the road. Ah… the joys of country living. Worth it much of the time. And the rest of the time… it’s an adventure.
Now… we’re gearing up to start the work week tomorrow. This is a sad week coming up as Karen has to fly down to California on business, Riley gets spayed, and… well… that’s it for the sadness.
Today was a good day…

I know… loads of shots of this tree, but hell… it’s beautiful.
