Mom and Don grow some outstanding vegetables and flowers. They have ultra green thumbs. It’s fantastic.

Yeah! Once again one of my photos was used for the Sierra Club’s Daily Ray of Hope Newsletter. I love the quote they picked to go with my photo this time. I’m pretty excited.

Last weekend I took some flower shots (what’s new), we went out for dinner for Maggie’s birthday, we took in the Melissa Etheridge concert (it was rockin’ excellence), and Karen finished up building her table. She rocks. I’ll include some pictures of it here in a moment. I’m so proud of her. It’s WAY cool.

The theme for this week’s hunt is colorful. I was perusing some of the flower pictures I’ve taken and came across this one, a particular favorite of mine. I love the bright orange and green in this. I like it so much in fact that I just made it my header photo. And, a little confession, I posted this already… as my July 25 photo on my photoblog, image – ination.

Yeah, another flower shot. I love taking them, it’s obvious.
We had a great weekend actually. Got some yard work done at our rental property, bought some supplies so Karen can make an adirondack table to go with the chairs on our front deck, watched a ton of Olympics coverage (that whole men’s 4 X 100 relay… wow… we were high fiving each other and screaming like mad), played with Weston a bit, and just enjoyed hanging out at our place. Nice.

We left our place last Wednesday, July 16, after work at about 6:00 PM and pulled into the Davis Lake campground at about 10:00 PM. Nothing like good music and good company to take a person down the road. We got to Davis Lake, set up our tent, blew up our air mattress, threw in our sleeping bags, and then chatted briefly before heading to bed.
The next morning Don took me out to see this little batch of flowers growing in this old stump in the water. Very pretty.

Here I am, late again…. we were camping and just got back yesterday late afternoon. No time to post after all the unpacking, laundry, and showering that went on. Stay tuned for near future posts about the trip.
So, this week’s theme for the hunt is What IS That? I was looking through some of my photos and came across this one of what was some kind of funky thistle or weed or who knows what that I took at Cathedral Park. It was cool looking though.

This one, also taken at the Rose Garden on July 2, Karen’s birthday, is a bit passed it’s prime. Sort of cool looking… I liked it.
In Bloom, originally uploaded by Tokenhippygirl.
To keep recapping the last several days in our busy busy lives, I wanted to at least post a couple of photos I took at the Portland Rose Garden last Wednesday when we were wandering there on Karen’s birthday. This one is nearly perfect… and beautiful.

These were floating in the star pond. Butchart Gardens are amazing. So many different areas to explore, so many beautiful flowers and trees to photograph. Really amazing.

These were absolutely gorgeous.

There was such a great variety of peonies at Butchart. I loved these.

The sunken garden at Butchart in what used to be a rock quarry. Spectacular.
Madrone, originally uploaded by Tokenhippygirl.
This beautiful tree, a Pacific Madrone, is the center piece of the sunken garden at Butchart. It’s red smooth bark is lovely.

Tuesday afternoon we headed to what is probably considered to be one of the main attractions near Victoria, Butchart Gardens. Only Karen had been there before, and she’d not seen it in bloom, so it was sort of a new experience for all of us.
Poppies, originally uploaded by Tokenhippygirl.
We strolled along the harbor walk and there were some beautiful poppies. I had to take a photo.

These were in some person’s yard. We spotted them as we strolled along Mississippi Avenue last evening. Strange. Yes. Cool. Very.
