Weston Attempting to Blog, originally uploaded by Tokenhippygirl.
Weston loves to get up on the desk when I’m trying to blog. He isn’t shy about demanding his attention.

Here she is. The little girl with her new haircut. Isn’t she cute?
Weston Enjoying a Christmas Gift, originally uploaded by Tokenhippygirl.
The pups didn’t seem to mind that we didn’t have power on Christmas Day. They enjoyed, and are still enjoying by the way, their gifts.
Snow Dog, originally uploaded by Tokenhippygirl.
Weston is a true snow dog. He’s not big, but he doesn’t seem to notice it much. He just leaps through like a trooper. Riley, on the other hand, isn’t a big fan. She’s just too small to make it work. She can’t even walk in the yard right now, it’s over her head. Weston is head deep.
Snow Day, originally uploaded by Tokenhippygirl.
The pups enjoyed a fine run in the snow today. It was hilarious and the enjoyed the heck out of it.
Weston, originally uploaded by Tokenhippygirl.
Weston’s adjusting to having a little sister pretty well now. He’s only occasionally annoyed by her, which is great. Most of the time, to our utter surprise, he’s very sweet and gentle with her. It’s pretty cute.
Riley, originally uploaded by Tokenhippygirl.
Riley is really growing. She now weighs somewhere in the neighborhood of five plus pounds and moving to 6 pretty quickly. She’s very glad she doesn’t have to go see the doctor again for a few months. All those shots were really annoying her.
Hanging Out Around the House, originally uploaded by Tokenhippygirl.
The pups have had it rough the last couple of weeks… getting left alone at the house quite a bit as we head out to get stuff for the rental or go over to work on the rental. That activity has pretty much consumed our lives for the last month or so. Tearing things out and down so we can start building it back up again. I think, maybe, we’re at the building it back up again stage. Thank God we have Kev to help in the whole process. It would both be a real pain in the butt and also cost us a lot more money to have someone else do the jobs he’s been doing over there for us. So, thanks Kev! You rock.

They were wanting to come in to see how the painting was going. We let them in.
Nap Time, originally uploaded by Tokenhippygirl.
The theme for this week’s photo hunt is lazy. I searched through my shots for the summer and found this one. What a great lazy way to spend a Sunday morning. Reading the paper and then taking a nap. Weston skipped the paper reading and went straight to the nap.

What’s She Doing?, originally uploaded by Tokenhippygirl.
Here they are… playing and chewing on bully stix. Or, to be more precise, Weston was chewing on a bully stick yesterday and Riley was dragging around a big bone we’d given to Weston but she’d commandeered. Very cute. They are playing so well together now. We are so proud of Weston. He’s been so gentle and sweet with her, after that first week of course when we thought he might “accidentally” kill her. Since then though… really great. I think he’s even starting to like her, and I know she’s loving him. She always wants to be with him and near him. Like I said… cute.
Introducing…. the Little Miss, originally uploaded by Tokenhippygirl.
Well, we’ve added a new little member to our family. Her name is Riley. She’s 2.3 pounds and a total bundle of joy. Weston isn’t totally sure about her yet, nor is she sure about him, but they are getting acquainted and will soon, I’m sure, become fast friends. Until then we’re doing a lot of supervised visitation. She’s so cute…
The Little Fella, originally uploaded by Tokenhippygirl.
We went to Mom and Don’s last weekend to help them paint their house and their re-siding job looks fantastic by the way. This is Weston taking a break from painting.
Actually, Kev came by with his paint sprayer and finished the rest of the house in the same time it took us to do one little section. Paint sprayers… a plus in my book.
The Boy, originally uploaded by Tokenhippygirl.
This, obviously, is Weston on my birthday. He was hoping to get some tasty ice cream cake. Sadly, he didn’t get any. Poor guy.
Ah, So Relaxing, originally uploaded by Tokenhippygirl.
This one is a bit dark, but I had to include it. This is Weston at the Farmer’s Market. We’d stopped to listen to a band that was playing and this is how Weston chose to hang out and listen to the band. I think he looks pretty comfy.
Wanted: Rabbit Killer, originally uploaded by Tokenhippygirl.
He looks sweet doesn’t he? Innocent even. Well, sometimes looks can be deceiving. He’s a rabbit killer, and I’m not even lying.
The story goes like this:
Cut to yesterday afternoon. I came home and found Karen out on the chaise with her laptop and the phone, working. Yeah, it’s tough, I know. Weston was laying quietly next to her, occasionally running off to chase a chipmunk or bug or flying piece of dust and then returning to lay down on the chaise. He’s just that kind of guy. I said my hellos then walked into the house to put down my gear and then into the office to check my e-mail. This is what happened next…
K: Hey! T!! Hurry!! Come out here!!! Hey! T!!!
Me: Run outside to see what all the ruckus is about, look at her… and hear…
K: He has a rabbit, he killed a rabbit, I think he killed it, I don’t know if it’s dead! He has a rabbit!! NO!! Weston!!! Put that down! Drop it! Drop it!!!
Me: Holy crap! He has a rabbit!! WESTON! Drop it!! NO!
Weston: Drops the rabbit but stands there next to it giving us the look that says… don’t touch it, or me. It’s mine. Look what I did? Aren’t I the greatest?
K: Is it dead? I don’t know if it’s dead. I think it’s still alive.
Me: I think it’s dead. It’s dead. WATCH OUT! He’s trying to grab it again. WESTON! Drop it! Drop it! No! How did this happen? Did you see him get it?
K: WESTON! Bad Boy!! Drop it!! We need to get it away from him. He’s going to be mad. He could try to bite. I heard sounds like from a bird. I thought he had a bird. At first I thought it was just a bird screeching. Then I looked over and he had the rabbit in his mouth. WESTON! NO!
Me: WESTON!! He won’t want to give it up… as I run over to the deck, grab the nearby fly swatter, and then return, advancing on the little man. Get something to grab it, I’ll try to keep him away from it. I get there and use the fly swatter to keep him at bay. He isn’t happy.
K: Leaves, and then returns, running, with a towel that she throws over the rabbit.
Me: What are you doing? That won’t work. He still knows it’s there.
K: It was the first thing I found, I’m going to pick it up and get rid of it. Is it still alive? Try to keep him away from it.
Me: I am trying to keep him away from it. Be careful. I don’t think it’s alive. It’s not breathing.
K: Reaches down to get it and Weston goes postal on her. Snarling and biting at her foot. He just bit me! He bit my foot! It’s not bad, he didn’t bite hard, but he bit me!
Me: Swatting Weston on the butt with the fly swatter… NO!! BAD BOY!! NO BITE!! BAD BOY!!
Weston: Looks at us like we’re insane and then looks back at the rabbit with an IT’S MINE, ALL MINE, expression.
Me: Go grab something to pick it up with. Like tongs or something.
K: Runs off toward the shed and brings back a shovel. She starts trying to scoop it up and can’t quite get it.
Me: That’s the same problem I had with the gopher, I couldn’t quite get under it.
Weston: Agitated, he tries to lunge at the rabbit to grab it.
Me: Trying to hold him back with a very lame fly swatter.
K: One last scoop and… I got it! I’m going to throw it over the side.
Me: Don’t let him see you. Here, let me distract him. I grab one of his squeaky balls and throw it. He runs a little ways after the ball and I yell… GO! GO! Do it now! I turn around and K is still standing there with the shovel. She’s quite a ways away from me at this point. What are you doing? I said, GO! GO!
K: I thought you were talking to Weston. So he would go after the ball.
Me: No, I was talking to you. Here, I’ll do it again and tell you when.
K: OK
Me: Throwing the ball away from K, Weston runs after it, and… NOW! THROW IT! I hear the sound of her flinging it over the side as it hits some tree branches going out over the burn pile and down the hill. I look back and K is walking toward me. Did it go far? Way over the side?
K: Oh yeah, it did. She chuckles. I think it might be in Doug’s driveway. (Doug’s driveway is actually a driveway to Doug’s land that’s next to our property. He doesn’t live there. It’s a dirt road with a chain across it… before you go and think it’s like a paved and manicured driveway.)
Me: It’s way over there then. Good. He won’t be able to find it.
K: I don’t think it’s really in his driveway, but it’s way down there.
Me: Good. I sit down on the steps to the deck and shake my head. I can’t believe he killed a rabbit. I can’t believe it. That was traumatizing.
K: It was. Where’s the rabbit killer?
Me: He’s over there.
Weston: Trots over to me as if to say, wow, wasn’t that great. Look what I did!! Aren’t you proud?
K: He must have been fast to be able to catch that thing. It’s been taunting him for days, hopping out to the middle of the back yard and then running into the bushes when he comes out.
Me: He’s quick. Wow… he killed a rabbit. He was probably trying to play with it and accidentally killed it. It didn’t even look like it had a scratch on it. I reach down and start petting Weston, who’s leaning against me and looking all cute and innocent. Not looking, at all, like the rabbit killer he now is.
Let’s Play, originally uploaded by Tokenhippygirl.
This is Weston’s favorite ball, at the moment. It changes, sometime daily. But more often than not, this is the one he wants us to throw. It’s the ball that came with the chuck it. He loves the chuck it.
Weston’s Weekend, originally uploaded by Tokenhippygirl.
This pretty much sums up Weston’s weekend. He had a great time. He loves weekends. Why? Because usually he gets to be with both of us all day, all the time. It makes him happy. Here he is being happy on the chaise on our front deck. We recently got an umbrella so it’s not as hot sitting out there. He loves to run and chase a ball, then bring it back up onto the chaise where he sets it down and then revels in his victory. This is him reveling.
Peeking Out, originally uploaded by Tokenhippygirl.
Karen took this photo today. Weston was taking a nap. Why the old sheet on the chair? Weston likes, or liked, to chew on the chair cushions. He doesn’t do it very often any more, but if he sees the hole he already made he can’t help himself. This chair is his favorite place to take naps. He can see the whole living room and bonus, he also has a view out of the windows from there so he can see the yard. He loves that. The sheet isn’t very attractive, but it keeps him from really chewing up the rest of the cushion.
About a month or so ago, maybe longer, we were at the Hondo Dog Park in Hillsboro, Oregon. It’s a fantastic dog park and part of what makes it so good is that they have a little/timid dog area. Anyway… this particular time, about a month or so ago, we were there and so was a film crew. There was an anchor, Kim Singer for those of you who might have heard of her, a camera person, and a dog “expert”. While the dog expert was being interviewed by Kim Singer our young boy, Weston, jumped up in the experts lap and sat there, letting her pet him while she was talking. The link I’m including here is to the story, shown in July on Better TV. After you click the link and it takes you to the Better TV website you’ll have to listen to a short advertisement before you can watch the story, it’s not long. Weston will be the one in the expert’s lap, looking around and away from the camera. I think he only looked at the camera once. Karen and I were back over her right shoulder, trying to be non-distracting. So, without further ado… CLICK HERE to see Weston’s film debut. He’s such a handsome little guy. Said, obviously, without any bias what so ever.
Luke, originally uploaded by Tokenhippygirl.
Saturday some of our party packed it up and headed home. We stayed until Sunday, but Luke and his people, Shelley and Nate, were some of the folks who took off. I think he was sad to go, and I think Weston was sad to see him go.
