Our last stop before actually getting into Scotland last Wednesday was Lindisfarne Castle and the Holy Island. This place is cool. You can actually see it from Bamburgh and Bamburgh from Lindisfarne. The Holy Island is actually an island, sort of. It sticks out into the sea. You can’t access it at high tide as the causeway connecting it to the mainland is under water during that time. Luckily for us Martin had it all worked out, being the fine navigator he is, so we were able to get out there, see it, and get off the island without incident.
The island was originally, indicated by it’s name, inhabited by monks and held a monastary and priory. The priory site on the island dates back 1300 years. Pretty awesome.
The weather that day, as we traveled north, was so typical of what we experienced during our time in the North and Scotland. Nice one minute, raining the next. We never did end up with terrible weather though. The clouds always seemed to part when it was time to get out of the car. Mary, the driving rock star that she is, had to drive in some nasty weather during certain periods, but when it was time to walk, it was good. Beautiful in fact when we were on the holy island.
The sheep… they are everywhere in England, and Scotland actually.

Riley looks hilarious in this one. I took it yesterday, or maybe the day before, when I was running around the house snapping photos of the dogs. She gets all wiggly when you try to pet her. She’s so excited she just can’t stay still. It’s cute. Makes it hard to pet her, but you have to try… I mean come on, look at that face.

Weston loves to hang out in this chair. I took this one yesterday. You can see he’s got quite the comfy spot. He loves it. It’s cozy, plus he can see outside. Pretty awesome.

I know this isn’t exactly probably very politically correct, but I had to post a shot of how Weston spends much of his time while on walks. He’s a boy dog… boy dogs like to mark. There’s not a log, or tree, or rock he passes without having to leave his mark… so to speak. Even when he has no mark to leave he tries to leave it. It’s kind of funny. He thinks he’s a stud… and, well… he is.

So it’s Wednesday which means I need to get a move on about posting our events, travels, etc. from last weekend. I’m a bit late. Ah well… it’s my blog I suppose so I can post when I get the time. Which happens to be now. So… anywho…. enough mumbling about why I haven’t posted this stuff before now. Let’s get on with it.
This last weekend we went to the beach for our anniversary. It’s sort of become a bit of a tradition (except for last year when our anniversary fell in the middle of the week and we couldn’t really get away). It was Riley’s first trip to the coast, ever, and she loved it. She wasn’t fazed by it at all, even when it rained a ton. Pretty amazing. She’s a cool customer.

This is a photo I took of Weston when he was a little guy. He must have been about six months old. He’s now almost two, next month. I was thinking of Valentine’s Day and was thinking about what the look of love is… and this is it, in this little boys eyes. Happy Valentine’s Day everyone.

Here they are… at the end of their walk this morning. Riley looks a little pissed off, with her ears back and all. Weston looks a little bow legged. But they were both happy and tired. That’s what you want for your dogs. You want them to be happy and tired after a good walk.

Weston’s adjusting to having a little sister pretty well now. He’s only occasionally annoyed by her, which is great. Most of the time, to our utter surprise, he’s very sweet and gentle with her. It’s pretty cute.

Riley is really growing. She now weighs somewhere in the neighborhood of five plus pounds and moving to 6 pretty quickly. She’s very glad she doesn’t have to go see the doctor again for a few months. All those shots were really annoying her.

The pups have had it rough the last couple of weeks… getting left alone at the house quite a bit as we head out to get stuff for the rental or go over to work on the rental. That activity has pretty much consumed our lives for the last month or so. Tearing things out and down so we can start building it back up again. I think, maybe, we’re at the building it back up again stage. Thank God we have Kev to help in the whole process. It would both be a real pain in the butt and also cost us a lot more money to have someone else do the jobs he’s been doing over there for us. So, thanks Kev! You rock.

Well, we’ve added a new little member to our family. Her name is Riley. She’s 2.3 pounds and a total bundle of joy. Weston isn’t totally sure about her yet, nor is she sure about him, but they are getting acquainted and will soon, I’m sure, become fast friends. Until then we’re doing a lot of supervised visitation. She’s so cute…

We went to Mom and Don’s last weekend to help them paint their house and their re-siding job looks fantastic by the way. This is Weston taking a break from painting.
Actually, Kev came by with his paint sprayer and finished the rest of the house in the same time it took us to do one little section. Paint sprayers… a plus in my book.
