Got Crab?, originally uploaded by Tokenhippygirl.
Nothing is more tasty than some freshly cracked crab on a piece of really good bread with a fresh slice of excellent cheese. Oh yeah, the garlic butter and champagne didn’t hurt either.

Yum, Crab, originally uploaded by Tokenhippygirl.
This was one good meal. We originally, and mistakenly, thought this was a Swedish tradition, but found out it’s not. It was Maggie’s San Francisco tradition with a friend of hers there. Why did we assume it was a Swedish tradition… why, Maggie is from Sweden, of course. It made no difference to us where the tradition came from. It’s a good one. Delicious and good!

Happy New Year!
We ventured, for the second time in a week, over to Maggie’s place. This time to celebrate and bring in the new year with Maggie, LL, Pat, Steve, and the pups. The champagne flowed, the crab was cracked, and the appetizers were superb. Thanks gang for the great company, the really nice time, and the warm sending off and greeting of one year and the next.
Christmas Feet, originally uploaded by Tokenhippygirl.
Finally, some last words on Christmas. We couldn’t get through the day without the must have foot shot. Here we are, in all of our pajama clad, footed glory. The pups didn’t get in on the action, but they were there. One big happy family. On another note… just want to say to Don, Karen’s dad, that we are thinking of you, and sending you much love.

This stove was a work horse during our power outage. We were so thankful we had it, and that we had wood to burn. We were very warm and cozy Christmas Day. Not only that, it worked great as a cook surface. Nothing like hot dogs cooked on top of a wood stove to stave off Christmas hunger.

I know… loads of shots of this tree, but hell… it’s beautiful.

Frosted, originally uploaded by Tokenhippygirl.
Later in the day, Christmas Day, the sun popped out for a bit. I wandered around outside taking some pictures. This is the front of our house. Looks like a large frosted cake.
Cup of Tea?, originally uploaded by Tokenhippygirl.
The kids got us two of these really cool tea cups, with built in infusers. My, they have great taste.

Ah, Christmas by the fire… hanging out, enjoying the good cheer.
Riley… Enjoying The Snow?, originally uploaded by Tokenhippygirl.
This was taken December 19, a few days before Christmas. I think Riley was getting tired of the snow already by then. It was taller than she is.

The pups didn’t seem to mind that we didn’t have power on Christmas Day. They enjoyed, and are still enjoying by the way, their gifts.
Christmas Day, originally uploaded by Tokenhippygirl.
I know I’m out of order here, but I realized I hadn’t posted any photos from Christmas Day. I took this one in the morning that day. It was snowing again like mad. We probably got another 3 or 4 inches… at least. It was crazy.
The Ring, originally uploaded by Tokenhippygirl.
So much has happened in the last couple of weeks I don’t think I posted a picture of Mary’s engagement ring. So, without further ado… introducing… Mary’s engagement ring. They did well picking it out. It’s beautiful.
Mr. Winter? Where Are You?, originally uploaded by Tokenhippygirl.
Sunday last, December 28, we came home. We’d called the power company to find our power was back on and our road had been plowed. However, we still had a lot of snow. Not so bad at all getting back home on the roads up to the house, but wow… still white all around once we got up here. Poor Mr. Winter… he was only a shadow of his former self.
Rescue Food, originally uploaded by Tokenhippygirl.
After we left our house last week, making our escape from the power outage, snow, and general state of dwindling supplies, we went to Maggie’s place. And this is what we found, besides a nice warm house and showers all around… dinner. Lovely. We opened several bottles of good wine, made our rescued turkey, and added in some mashed potatoes, carrots, and some really nice mushroom gravy. This was living. Ahhhhhhh….
