We now have possession of the latest rental and have already started work on it. Loads of cleaning, new roof, new wall, cleaned refrigerator, serviced heat pump and duct work, plumber coming out next week, carpet purchased and waiting in the garage to install, and plans made for the rest. We have to paint the entire inside, get the electrician out to do a couple of things, take a wall out between the kitchen and living room, move kitchen cabinets, redo the back splash, fix stuff in both bathrooms, and then… breathe. Yes, we have a way to go, but we’re getting there. Hopefully we will be done by the time Mary and Martin get here next month. That’s the goal. I think we can. I think we can. I think we can.

We spent a couple of evenings in the last couple of weeks taking the pups for walks around Cathedral Park. It’s one of our favorite spots to take them and now that Riley is old enough we can go more often. I love this shot as the sun was going down out past the St. Johns Bridge.

Karen’s dad has a definite green thumb. Their backyard is gorgeous. And, thankfully, so was the weather. It was really nice to get back into a pair of shorts for a few days. We came back home to rain, cold, rain, and well… more rain. The shorts got packed away and the sweaters got taken out.

I decided I needed to get back to updating everyone on the activities of the last couple of weeks in our lives. I was side-tracked there for a day or two by the election. The previous post to this says everything I need to say about that, other than this… I am, and I’m very happy to say this, really proud to be an American right now. My faith has been renewed.

Alright then… onward… or, in this case and the case of the next few posts, backward….

We traveled down to San Jose to do a very quick visit with Karen’s family. Her brother and sister in law were visiting from Florida so it seemed like a good time for us to go down and see everyone at once. We had a great time. We wished, coming back, that we’d stayed a couple days longer. Ah well… next time.

This shot was taken during the plane ride down. I think I took it with my iPhone. Not bad for an iPhone photo actually. I love the sun on the engine.
