After painting Maggie made us dinner. Yum. It was good. Her signature dish… basil chicken. Very tasty. A definite keeper.

One of the things we’ve done in the last couple of weeks is to help Maggie paint her bedroom in her new house. Here it is, after the first coat. Pretty great color and a very nice painting job. Oh yeah.
Hey folks… Just wanted to say, I’m still here. We’ve been swamped with all things life. A trip down to San Jose to visit with Karen’s family (had a great time with them), watching election coverage (including watching all manner of news programs we normally don’t watch but are now hooked on), trying to get the new puppy house trained (girls are tough), buying a new rental house (that makes two so far) and starting the work on it, and generally running around like mad women with our heads cut off. Nice metaphor for this All Hallows Eve don’t ya think? Heads off… yeah, it’s good.
So don’t you all worry… I will be back, and back regularly, very soon. I’ll also get my image – ination site up to date as well. I have loads of photos, I just haven’t uploaded all of them and haven’t posted in a couple of weeks. Wow. A couple of weeks. I’m lame.

The theme for this week’s photo hunt is lazy. I searched through my shots for the summer and found this one. What a great lazy way to spend a Sunday morning. Reading the paper and then taking a nap. Weston skipped the paper reading and went straight to the nap.

Here it is, the last bloom on our red rose bush this year. Sad to see them go. There’s something about fall though, putting things to bed, getting things buttoned up. I like it.

Here it is folks, our new rental house. We just found out yesterday we got it. Now the work begins! We’re hoping to get it all finished and have it rented out by Christmas.

OK, besides the fact that Josh and Lindsay got quite the hall of gifts last night and this photo represents that, this is also my 1000th post!! Yes folks… I can’t believe it myself. Two things to celebrate in one post… the little one about to be born and my ability to keep coming back to the computer over an extended period of time to type. Woo Hoo! I think the baby overshadows the blogging accomplishment, but still… I’m psyched.

Last night we hosted a baby shower for Josh and Lindsay, a guy I work with and his wife, who are expecting their first child. It’s a boy… as you can probably guess. We had a great time with everyone, I hope they did! Nothing better than good food, good company, and presents.

We had some company over for dinner yesterday. We didn’t invite them, they showed up unannounced. But even so, we enjoyed watching them. I love where we live. We get to see this all of the time. I could do without the cougar who sometimes lives at our house, but these beauties. They are welcome any time. Even though they do tend to eat our flowers, plants, grass, trees, etc. We love them… yes, we do. At least we know if they’re around the cougar isn’t. Always a plus…

Here they are… playing and chewing on bully stix. Or, to be more precise, Weston was chewing on a bully stick yesterday and Riley was dragging around a big bone we’d given to Weston but she’d commandeered. Very cute. They are playing so well together now. We are so proud of Weston. He’s been so gentle and sweet with her, after that first week of course when we thought he might “accidentally” kill her. Since then though… really great. I think he’s even starting to like her, and I know she’s loving him. She always wants to be with him and near him. Like I said… cute.

It was raining yesterday, and it’s raining today. Not really that new for our lovely state this time of year. After all, the rain is part of what makes it so lovely in the first place. I was wandering out in the yard with my camera yesterday and captured this one. I love the geranium trying to open and the water drops all over it.

Sometimes a photo turns out differently from what you expected. I intended to take this as a macro shot, which I did. I just didn’t realize how it would look after it was taken. There’s something about it, very much like a portrait of a flower. I liked it.

The theme for the week is sad. I was looking through some recent shots and found this one. This flower looked sad to me. Or maybe it’s just that summer was ending and that was sad. I’ve recovered now and am fully into autumn so it’s all good. Like this shot though.
My apologies for not playing the last several weeks. Summer will do that to a person. Seems we were busy busy busy. Especially since getting our new little girl. Scroll down for some candid shots of her. She’s beautiful.

Weston and Riley are starting to become friends. It’s sweet. He’s playing really well with her, very gentle. Once in awhile she gets too rowdy for him and he lets her know, but otherwise he’s been very good with her. It’s really great to see them playing and having fun.
A storm came through yesterday afternoon while I was at work. This was taken after it started to clear.
