The Foot
The Foot, originally uploaded by Tokenhippygirl.Well, after a fairly easy time of it in Atlanta today, except for the hour long flight delay at the airport, we jumped on a plane and hopped over to Philadelphia. Ah… Philadelphia… I’m sure we’ll love it here. After all, it’s the seat of freedom and there’s so much history here. Not to mention the whole Rocky Balboa thing… we have got to find those steps! Anyway… where was I… oh yes… Ah Philadelphia… land of confusing or non existent road signs. In our efforts to make it from the airport to our hotel, which is smack dab in the center of downtown Philly, or Phila as it’s listed on the freeway signs, we drove away from the airport, then back to the airport, away from the airport again, over to New Jersey (OK, we’re not sure if we made it that far, but we definitely saw signs for Atlantic City), and then back to Philadelphia… finally finding our way to our hotel, Club Quarters. Nice hotel. Great to be here. What should have taken us 20-30 minutes took us two hours. Bah ha ha ha!! Maybe I exaggerate… but not by much. We like to make excuses for ourselves when these things happen… and in this case, our excuses are valid… bad signage, really bad directions from map quest, dark, rain, and a car type I’d never driven before (it’s only contribution to our marathon adventure this evening being that I wasn’t used to driving it and had trouble seeing out the side windows when I changed lanes). No matter… we made it. Here we are…. our hotel room. In times like these it’s really good that we both have a sense of humor. Tonight we had to dig deep for it, but it was there. One of the things that was so funny to us is that we travel quite a bit and we always seem to have these issues when going from the airport to our hotel. Afterward, for the rest of our stay everywhere we’ve ever gone, we have virtually no problems at all. It’s so damn funny to us that we just always seem to struggle getting into a new town.
Now… Karen is zonked out and I’m blogging. Maybe it’s time to get some sleep myself. After all, tomorrow there’s another adventure waiting in Philadelphia for us. I can’t wait.
Oh, and this picture… it’s of a foot sculpture at the Atlanta airport. There were some great ones as we traveled along the moving sidewalks to get to our concourse. Really lovely work.
