Lastly today we wandered by, though we didn’t go in, the World of Coke. It’s very near the Georgia Aquarium. Cool statue of this guy there. Makes me kind of thirsty looking at it.
While we were down near the Georgia Aquarium and before we ventured out of town to Stone Mountain, we wandered the Centennial Olympic Park and the grounds around the World of Coke. Really nice park. This statue is in the park and depicts the founder of the modern olympic movement. It was a gift from France to the city of Atlanta to commemorate it’s hosting of the 1996 games.
Robert E. Lee, “Stonewall” Jackson, and Jefferson Davis at Stone Mountain, originally uploaded by Tokenhippygirl.Besides the Georgia Aquarium we also drove out to Stone Mountain. Stone Mountain is the largest piece of exposed granite rock in the world and carved on the side of it is this huge picture to honor the fallen soldiers of the Civil War.
Jelly, originally uploaded by Tokenhippygirl. We headed to downtown Atlanta today to see the Georgia Aquarium. It’s advertised as the world’s largest aquarium. I don’t know how they measure it, but no matter… the place is huge. There are a couple of especially cool exhibits, one with an enormous wall of glass to view the whale sharks and their smaller, yet still interesting, fellows. The other, where this photo was shot, was the jelly fish tank. Just beautiful.
