Passing Through The Canal, originally uploaded by Tokenhippygirl.
I’m posting a bit early this week as tomorrow, when I’m supposed to be posting for the photo hunt, we’ll be flying from Portland to Atlanta. We get in around 2:00, but I wasn’t sure how much time I’d have… hence the early post.
This week’s theme… Heavy. Once again I had to look around through the old photo archives to come up with what I thought was an interesting entry for the week. This picture was taken at the Panama Canal in 2007. Some of the ships that pass through are so big and heavy they have to be guided through using small trains on each side as well as a tug boat behind. It’s a fascinating process. This ship was huge.

That’s a great shot. Good take on the theme. I bet it’s fascinating to watch the heavy ships get guided through. Hope you have safe travels and a good weekend.
That looks like one heavy ship! Happy Photo Hunting!
Cool shot you have here. I thought I was seeing Transformers. haha
Have a nice weekend.
If you have the time, do check out my another interpretation here
That is fascinating. I have only watched “ships”–not big ships but yachtwa ns small fishing boats–go through the Hiram Chittingtom Locks in Seattle’s Shiip Canal, and even went througho nce on a harbor tour. My brother is cruising the Panama Canal later this spring and I am jealous.
And I should proof what my bumblefingers type. That is “yachts and small fishing boats” and “went through once.”
Interesting shot with details of how the docking was done
Thanks for sharing yah!!
In Singapore it’s hard to get into Port of Authority Singapore if one isn’t a staff there
Oh yes..the Panama Canal…it’s incredible! I’m so amazed at how it’s able to accomodate huge ships!
Mine’s just up. If you have the time, I’d appreciate a visit!
Tks.
Huge and heavy. I’m pretty sure the tugboats with this ship looks like a toy.
Excellent shot! The Panama Canal is an amazing waterway.

Definitely heavy!
Nice photo!
I know the Panama Canal wasn’t designed to taek on the behemoths on the seas today. Still that’s one enormus vessel! Great take on this week’s theme!

Very nice. Hope you enjoy your trip.
Definitely heavy. Someplace I’ve always wanted to see, too.
That’s Heavy!!
Wow, I would love to see the Panama Canal. I’ve been to the waterways and canals and seen the locks work in Devizes, England (in Wiltshire County), but it is teeny-tiny in comparison to the Panama Canal.
phew that is a close fit!!
That is very heavy and it is amazing they can stay on the water. A great photo hunt item for heavy. I also peaked at last weeks, as I missed it. A good narrow photo as well.
Titus seems to make everything HUGE and HEAVY! Great photo and have a good weekend.
Great shot. I live near a port and love to watch the big ships coming in. Have a great weekend!
I’m running late this week, and I’m sorry I haven’t visited for a while – sometimes life gets in the way!
This is such an incredible shot! I’m only used to much smaller vessels an small harbours, This looks like Gulliver in Lilliput!
Great choice and likely the heaviest thing I have seen this weekend.
