The, More Protected, Back Deck
Wow… It’s been crazy around here. Where do we live? The midwest? Alaska? New England? No I say… and yet… wow. It’s been cold here, for us. We’ve been hanging around in the teens and twenties for what, a week and a half now? Something like that anyway. And now, today, during a week we were supposed to be slowly warming, and dry… we get this… again.
Don’t get me wrong. I love it. It’s completely beautiful. But geez… a girl can’t get out of the house in this. Nor, I guess, should I try. They’ve been advising against leaving your home all morning on the news… and they still are. Before this started we still had a good two or three inches here at our house. It hadn’t melted off yet from last week. I guess you’d say, in mountain ski condition terms, that we had a 2 inch base. It’s made a nice little foundation for what came down, and is still coming down today.
As I look out the window from our home office, it’s stopped snowing… oh…nope… it’s starting again. Just when I thought it was safe to look up. It seems a bit lighter out there, but the skies still look like snow. You all know what I mean… that gray, slightly darkish, heavy look. Very descriptive don’t ya think?
Ah well… there’s nothing I can do but appreciate the beauty in it, grab another cup of tea, and enjoy the hush snow always seems to bring. It is, actually, lovely after all.
