I just opened up my note for the day.
Let me explain… Every day we have to be away from each other, for the last three and a half years, I’ve received a note from my sweetie. I think, in all that time, she’s only missed two or three. It usually works like this… I go to work, at some point open my wallet, or my lunch bag (it can be in either place), and there it is… words of love from my Karen. It is sometimes just a quick I love you, or maybe a quote she found and liked, and sometimes she writes about how she misses me, just because she’s away from me during the day.
Right now, if you’ve been reading this blog, you know she’s out of town for a week on business. So today, as I did yesterday, and will through Saturday morning this week, I opened one in a stack of notes on the counter. Each is labeled with the day and piled in order. I was strongly instructed, before she left, that I wasn’t to open anything until the proper day. Today I opened “tuesday”.
Here’s what it said…
neither a lofty degree of intelligence nor imagination nor both together go to the making of genius. Love, love, love, love… that is the soul of genius.
It was signed “I love you”.
I’m miss her, but… I’m happy. How could I be anything else? I’m loved.
