It’s been awhile. I just realized, as I was sitting here trying to think of others things to do besides work, that I haven’t written in the blog for nearly two weeks. What can I say? Life’s been busy.
To recap… since one, my memory isn’t what it used to be for small detail, and two, I don’t have tons of time…
After Augusten… the weekend of the 13th… We went to see a movie, MI3. It was good. I know, I know, there’s a lot of hype, negative and postive, about Tom Cruise… All of which I don’t really care about. What I did care about was that Phillip Seymour Hoffman played the bad guy, and he’s one of my favorite actors, ever. If you haven’t seen State and Main or Capote, see them. He’s great. We also went out for breakfast, went to a nursery to get a few more plants for the yard, and then we went back home and planted the plants. At a point during the weekend we went by a house our friend’s are renting to see if we could find it and they happened to be there working on it, so… we helped them a bit by cleaning windows and putting together a table while they were painting some of the rooms. The house they’re renting is pretty cool, in a great up and coming neighborhood in Portland. A lot of renovation is going on in that area and it’s a great thing to see. After the cleaning and table building we moseyed over to the McMenamins in Vancouver that’s right on the water. A few of our friends joined us as we sat outside on the Columbia River and enjoyed a bit of pub food. A good, though slightly chilly, time was had by all.
Last weekend we did a couple of interesting things, at least to us. We went to a fundraiser… ate some fundraiser food, drank some fundraiser wine, purchased some silent auction fundraiser items, and had a really good time for a very good cause. That was Saturday. On Sunday we met a friend over at the Alberta Art Hop and cruised around that little street fair for a few hours looking at art, enjoying some music, and eating at a mostly vegan restaurant. We aren’t vegan, and didn’t know the place was, or at least MOSTLY was. Karen did find a hamburger on the menu (naturally grown and fed beef, of course) as did our friend. I had vegan mac and cheese. I wouldn’t recommend it, unless, of course, you’re vegan and enjoy that sort of thing. It wasn’t bad, but I did find myself missing the cheese part of the mac and cheese. All in all though, it was nice to wander around in a neighborhood of Portland we haven’t spent a lot of time in. Though I think now, we will. It’s funky, in the way the Hawthorne area used to be. Our kind of area.
Well, that’s the update. I’ll have more during the coming long weekend I’m sure. Maybe even pen more than a this is what we’ve been doing entry. Who knows. The only thing I know for sure right now? I need a refill on the coffee and to somehow not stare at the clock for the next six hours willing it to go faster. I love Fridays. They are the start of a weekend adventure. And this girl is ready for this weeks adventure to begin.
